ABBUC Gopher

Gopher ist ein einfaches Protokoll zum Zugriff auf hierarchisch gespeicherte Dokumente (Texte, Bilder und Dateien).

Gopher entstand zur gleichen Zeit wie das World-Wide-Web (WWW) und hat sich im Schatten des "grossen Bruders" nie durchsetzen können. Jedoch gibt es im Internet eine grosse Sammlung von Gopher-Systemen, speziell auch mit Informationen zu alten Rechnern.

Gopher Systeme "fühlen" sich ein wenig an wie BBS-Mailboxen in den 1980er Jahren. Und Gopher ist so simpel, das es auch vom Atari 8bit aus funktioniert.

Noch gibt es keinen nativen Gopher Client für den Atari 8bit, aber ich hörte, es ist etwas in Arbeit …

Gopher was created at the same time as the World Wide Web (WWW) and has can never assert themselves in the shadow of their "big brother". However there is a large collection of Gopher systems on the Internet, especially also with information about old computers.

Gopher systems "feel" a little bit like BBS mailboxes in the 1980s. And Gopher is so simple, that it's also possible to get it from the Atari 8bit works out.

There is no native Gopher client for the Atari 8bit yet, but I heard that there is something in the works …
